Iman: A Trailblazer in Ashtanga Yoga and Holistic Healing
Hailing from Egypt, a land rich in history and ancient civilization, Iman has dedicated over two decades to the transformative practice of yoga.
Her journey with Ashtanga Yoga began in 2007 during a yoga retreat, sparking a lifelong commitment to this powerful tradition.
She had the honor of meeting Pattabhi Jois, celebrating his final birthday, and participating in his memorial alongside his devoted students—a profound experience that solidified her path.
Since 2008, Iman has been a dedicated student of Sharath Jois, returning to India repeatedly to study under his guidance.
Along her journey, she has also trained with esteemed teachers such as Rolf and Marci Naujukat and assisted renowned Ashtanga practitioners, including Noah Williams, Petri Räisänen, Laruga Glaser, and more.
Her multiple trips to India have deepened her connection to the tradition, culture, and spiritual essence of yoga.
As a pioneer of Ashtanga Yoga in Egypt, Iman holds the distinction of being the first Authorized Ashtanga teacher in Egypt, Africa, and the MENA region, a recognition granted by Sharath Jois.
Since 2010, she has worked to spread the Ashtanga Yoga method across Egypt, mentoring yoga teachers and fostering a growing community of practitioners.
Iman teaches traditional Ashtanga Yoga in the Mysore style, led classes, and hosts workshops and retreats.
Her retreats are thoughtfully curated, taking participants on transformative journeys across Egypt’s most magical locations, including Luxor, Aswan, the White Desert, South Sinai, and the Siwa Oasis.
She has also led international retreats and workshops in Bali, Mexico, El Salvador, Croatia, and Spain. One of her signature offerings, A Divine Path, integrates Ashtanga Yoga with healing practices, offering a holistic approach to self-discovery and growth.
In addition to her yoga practice, Iman has been working with plant medicine for over a decade.
In 2023, she traveled to South America, immersing herself in the Amazonian and Andean regions to deepen her understanding of indigenous healing traditions.
Her retreats often bridge the ancient yogic traditions of the East with the spiritual practices of Native America, offering medicinal ceremonies that combine plant remedies, mantra chanting, and wisdom from her studies in India.
Iman’s teaching style is authentic, compassionate, and rooted in tradition, yet infused with a sense of playfulness and creativity.
She strives to awaken the healing potential within each student, guiding them to deepen their self-awareness and connect with their true essence.
